Apple's next iteration of the iPhone has been the center of much speculation recently as Apple fans crave the next big thing from the Cupertino-based company. Now a slew of new reports continue to shed a little more light onto what the next iPhone, presumably called the iPhone 6, will have and what it will look like.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is currently testing a sharper 1704 x 960 resolution screen. In comparison, the latest iPhone 5s models have resolution of 1136 x 640.

"Just like with the transition to the iPhone 4′s Retina display in 2010 and the transition to the iPhone 5′s taller screen in 2012, "9 to 5 Mac writes." Apple is preparing major resolution changes for the iPhone 6 that will require software changes by both Apple and developers, according to people briefed on the specifications of the new device."

Despite recent rumors that Apple would move its launch of the next iPhone to August, multiple reports now suggest that Apple once again will unveil its smartphone in September. Apple Store employees in Germany, according to iFun, have been given vacation restrictions during the month of September. That would seem to suggest Apple will role out the iPhone 6 that month as in years past hen employees had blackout dates for vacation.

Apple has released its last three iPhone updates during the month of September. In 2013, it marked the first time Apple released two phones a once, the iPhone 5s and 5c. Analysts billed the 5c as its first "budget" phone, but sales lagged from get-go. The iPhone 5s sales, however, exceeded expectation and included the brand new Touch ID fingerprint scanner feature.

“iPhone 5s is the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, delivering desktop class architecture in the palm of your hand,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, in a statement following the release. “iPhone 5s sets a new standard for smartphones, packed into its beautiful and refined design are breakthrough features that really matter to people, like Touch ID, a simple and secure way to unlock your phone with just a touch of your finger."

Apple is reportedly prepping the release of two size of the iPhone 6, a 4.7-inch phone and a 5.5-inch model, according to a report by Reuters. Since the begging of the year, leaks of iPhone 6 cases, molds and supply chain orders have all pointed toward releasing two iPhone sizes this year. A 4.7-inch phone has been the reported by multiple sites, while the size of the second and larger iPhone has varied. Some Chinese supply chain analysts have suggested as small as a 5.3-inch phone or as large as a 5.7-inch phone that would move Apple into the "phablet" territory.

"Industry watchers have said increasing the iPhone's screen size from 4 inches would help Apple regain market share from competitors such as Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, who they say have responded to consumer desire for more screen size," reports Reuters.
